I've been to 3 of the the last 4 editions of the little Belgian treasure known as the Pukkelpop Festival, and with this year being the 25th year, they've pulled out all the stops to get the big guns in.
I will, of course, do my best to capture some audio/video from the festial, and the will certainly be a photo documentary of some kind. Last years fest saw 30 degree heat, torrential downpours and some of the finest live entertainment i've seen in recent years (Bon Iver was sublime, Puppet Mastaz were mindblowing, and The Bug was incendiary) and i'm looking forward to more of the same.... Hasselt, what you got in store for me this year?
During the final months of my tenure as a warrior of noble virtue (i worked in a record store) i picked up Tracey Thorns most recent album "Love and It's Opposite". I've always enjoyed the sadness she seems to channel pretty spectacularly. Check out "Hormones" below, breaking new ground in jaunty intimacy.
Anyway, this is a delightful, cheesy workout placed lovingly underneath some beautiful vocal harmonies. If you're unfamiliar with rcrdlbl.com, i recommend you click the link below and have a dig around. It's all free, and a lot of it is very good indeed.
Flick the video forward to about 2 minutes in...... then, about 7 seconds later.... does he get shot? or have his lungs collapsed? No, No, No... it's an EPIC SINGING FAIL.
Eek, that sure was a cheap headline, for which i can only apologise.... but hey, this is awesome! Definitely deserving of your attention.
There was a limited vinyl edition of this, but it's gone now. Sorry! Still, for as little as 84 cents, or just over 50 of ye olde UK pennies, you can grab a digital download of this, and i recommend you do. Did i mention that this is awesome?
